What do our symbols mean?
The blue represents the revolutionary patriot, as was on display on the coats of soldiers in the American War for Independence.
“παρρησία” is Ancient Greek for “freedom of speech,” which represents virtue of the mind.
“μολὼν λαβέ” represents virtue of the body, as it is Ancient Greek for “Come and take them!” and was the response of Leonidas at the Battle of Thermopylae when the Persians commanded him to lay down his weapons.
“We, the People” represents virtue of the spirit, as it is the symbol of the political community, and reminds us that our ancestors were devoted to us, and that we must similarly be devoted to our posterity.
The eagle represents the strength that results when these three aspects of virtue are united.
